The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a youth awards programme founded in the United Kingdom in 1956 by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, that has since expanded to 144 nations.
The AAFC has been granted permission to administer the program and issue awards across Australia. Both staff (under 21 yrs old) and cadets have the opportunity to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.
Hear from our cadets: https://youtu.be/CmcwlXrc3es
Leaders and Cadets will also be eligible to wear the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award badge on their Service Dress Uniform upon completion of each stage.
Almost everything you undertake in the AAFC can contribute to the Award. The gold level assists with leadership development and is ideal for all senior cadets and transitioning cadets to staff.
AAFC 3WG charge participants $100 per level. It is much cheaper to complete the award through AAFC. A participant at a school or another organisation will typically pay 60% more on average between the states and territories! Many activities that the Australian Air Force Cadets do can be put towards the different levels of the program. e.g. Drill, Monday NIght Parade Activities, Bivouacs and Promotion courses.
