The Army Adventure Training Award Activity 2025 will occur at Lake Barrington and its surrounds, Tasmania over the period 06 – 11 Apr 25.
The AAC has extended an invitation to the AAFC for three cadets and three staff to participate in the activity.
Army National Exercises consist of a series of positively controlled psychosocially and physically challenging activities designed to test individual and/or team cohesiveness and skills application in a challenging and competitive field environment. Conducted in remote, arduous, and challenging locations within Australia, these Exercises include tasks such as lengthy trekking, water-based activities, field engineering and mental agility exercises by night and day. Military skills are tested, requiring candidates to demonstrate excellence in leadership and skills gained through completion of development activities at CPL level or above.
Cadet Eligibility:
Qualifications/experience
16 or older by the date of the activity; and Qualified to the rank of CDTCPL or above. Not attended ATA previously.
Health
Current health details recorded on CEA V5 Declaration that there are no new or existing he lth issues

No special dietary requirements
Physical ability
Satisfactory completion of pre-selction testing
Pre Selection testing will be conducted at local Wings and consists of:
Beep test
Endurance march
Swim test

Nil specific but should have a keen interest in Adventure activities and high level of personal physical fitness.
Health
Current Health details recorded on CEA V5. Declaration that there are no new or existing health issues.
Dietary
No special dietary requirements.

Satisfactory completion of pre-selection testing
Pre-selection testing will be conducted at local Wings and consists of:
Beep test
Endurance march
Swim test
Detail on pre-selection tests is available of the GNDOPS webpage in CEA. Knowledge test is undertaken on a google form accessed from the hyperlink above and within the guidance document on CEA, once complete tests will be sent to Wing SOOPS from HQ AAC on a weekly basis.
Health Considerations
Medical and mental health fitness – All nominees:
Are advised that members with identified health conditions that require specialised medical care to treat an identified illness or condition may be excluded from participating. National Exercises are considered a “remote” activity and there will be no capacity to provide special handling (refrigeration etc.) or timely access to medications during the conduct of the activity.
Must provide a current medical detail (loaded on CEA), including a declaration that there are no new or existing health issues.
Will be required to manage their own prescription medications, where the r individual Health Management Plan is assessed as being acceptable to the EXDIR for participation on the Exercise.
Special dietary requirements
All field-based participants will be consuming field rations during the challenge phase.
Members who have special dietary requirements that cannot be met by the Universal Ration Pack variants provided by the AAC (Standard/ Vegetarian/ Gluten Free-Dairy Free) will not be considered for selection.
Wing nominations are to be recorded on the pre-selection test record, hosted on GNDOPS CEA page, and collated by Wing SOOPS prior to submission to NATHQ. Pre-selection testing is to be completed by 24 Feb 25 and with pre-selection testing results forward to SOGNDOPS NATHQ by COB 28 Feb 25
Selection of AAFC participants will be complete by 07 Mar 25.
